Two arrested following vehicle thefts from NorthStar Ford

Two men have been arrested following the overnight theft of 12 vehicles from a Fort McMurray dealership last month.

Police say nine pickup trucks and three SUVs were stolen from NorthStar Ford’s TaigaNova location at 12:30 a.m. on November 17. Police recovered five vehicles, with four vehicles showing up in Alberta and one found in BC Police reported at the time that 13 vehicles were stolen, but one of those vehicles was determined not to be stolen.

Paul Berube, 41, of Wheatland County, Alta. was arrested near the village of Gleichen. Joseph Carl Read, 38, of Grande Prairie was arrested in West Kelowna, BC Both men were charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

Read was also charged with robbery, violating a release order, and six different weapons charges.

Read remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in BC court on January 9. Berube has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Siksika Provincial Court on January 12.
