First Set Photos From Francis Ford Coppola’s Sci-Fi Drama Feature Adam Driver and Aubrey Plaza | Daily News Byte

No one expected Francis Ford Coppola Megalopolis to come to fruition after his previous failed attempts to remove his sight from the earth, but the legendary godfather The director announced that he returned to the project in 2019, and production began in Atlanta, Georgia earlier this year.

Now, the first set of photos have been shared online, giving us a look at stars Adam Driver and Aubrey Plaza filming a scene in a snowy environment.

Plot details are still pretty sketchy (though an early version of the script is doing the rounds right now), but we do know that Megalopolis is a sci-fi drama about “a woman torn between loyalty to her father, who has a classical view of society, and her lover, who is more progressive and ready for the future.”

Not much to go on, but Coppola gave us a slightly better idea of ​​what to expect in a recent Directors to Directors interview with fellow filmmaker Sarah Polley. In the video, Coppola refers to Driver’s character as a “wizard,” which… yeah, are we supposed to take him literally? Driver is holding some kind of staff in these shots!

The all-star cast also includes Forest Whitaker, Nathalie Emmanuel, Jon Voight, Laurence Fishburne, Shia Labeouf, Jason Schwartzman, Grace VanderWaal, Kathryn Hunter, Talia Shire, and Dustin Hoffman.

No official release date has been set, but Megalopolis is expected to hit theaters in 2024.
