These vehicles use a 3-cylinder, 1.5-liter turbocharged engine, which can allow fuel or its vapors to leak into hot parts of the vehicle, leading to a fire. The issued recall alert affects approximately 520,000 SUVs in the US and 634,000 worldwide.
SUVs affected by the new recall alert will receive the necessary repairs to prevent losses and damage. Ford dealers will install a software update to detect cracked injectors.
If the tool detects a leak, the vehicle’s dashboard will display a warning light. In addition, engine power decreases, fuel consumption and flow decreases. These measures allow vehicle owners to stop and contact their dealers for service.
