Taylor Sheridan says Harrison Ford Called the Script Perfect | Daily News Byte

The ‘Yellowstone’ spinoff also stars Helen Mirren.

There are many elements you will definitely find in a Taylor Sheridan movie or TV series, and one of them is a very good cast. The Academy Award-winning director and screenwriter has created stories that attract Hollywood A-listers Jeff Bridges, Jeremy Renner, Emily Bluntand even Sylvester Stallone. That’s why it’s no surprise that Sheridan has captured the legends of the film Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren to star in Yellowstone prequel and spin-off series 1923. In an interview with Deadlinehowever, Sheridan reveals that capturing them is easier than he thought.

In the interview, Sheridan revealed that having the attention of Star Wars and Indiana Jones star is as easy as inviting him to spend some time at a ranch. However, the filmmaker and showrunner insists he had to take a stand to get Ford and Mirren to participate in the 1923 before there was a script. This happened because Sheridan said he needed to know for whom he was writing:

“He flew down. I said, ‘We’re going to do this thing together.’ He goes, ‘Can I read the script?’ I said, ‘You can when it’s written, but it’s not written yet and you have to commit to it now. I need to know who I am writing for. I’m done thinking about who I’m writing for, and I have to try to chase down the person I have in mind and I can’t get that person because they’re making a crazy show on Netflix. I don’t do that crap anymore. So, will you do it or will you watch Chris Cooper do the next great thing? What do you want to do?’ I poured almost two bottles of wine on him. He said yes. I got him on the plane as fast as I could, closed the deal and said, send me the next one. Then came Helen, and the same thing. Get a glass of wine. [Then] I sent them the script and he called me and he said, ‘It’s fucking perfect. When do we start?’”

Harrison Ford previously revealed to Collider how excited he is 1923

In an interview with Collider, Ford commented on accepting his first starring role in a television series with 1923. He emphasized what all of us TV lovers realize: The lines between feature films and television series are now more blurred than ever:

“We used to think of television as having less ambition, perhaps, than feature films. This is no longer the case at all. This is one of the most ambitious works I’ve ever done, and I’m glad to see I at the moment. […] I enjoy working with very high quality actors and actresses, and we have the technical capacity and ambition to shoot it in the way that it is a feature film. It’s quite nice to look at. I am very happy with the whole project.”

Ford was right, of course. Not only because you can see the ambition of a massive project like 1923 just by watching the trailer, but also because Sheridan revealed how much it cost to put Season 1 of 1923 together – and the price tag is as high as a blockbuster movie.

1923 takes place between Kevin Costner-leads the main series Yellowstone and prequel series 1883. It follows Jacob (Ford) and Cara (Mirren), the ancestors of the Dutton family as they run the Yellowstone ranch facing the challenges of the times including prohibition, a pandemic, a historic drought, and the looming threat of the Great Depression . The cast is also featured Jerome Flynn, Sebastian Roche, Darren Mann, Michelle Randolph, James Badge Dale, Marley Shelton, Brian Geraghty, Aminah Nieves, Jennifer Ehle, Julia Schlaepfer, Brandon Sklenarand Robert Patrick.

1923 premiered this week on Paramount+. You can watch a trailer for the series below:
