RCMP arrest two in NorthStar Ford vehicle theft, investigation continues

Two individuals have been arrested in connection with a vehicle theft that occurred at NorthStar Ford on November 17, 2022.

Paul Berube (41), from Wheatland County, was arrested near Gleichen, AB, and faces charges of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

Berube was released from Police custody and is scheduled to appear before the Siksika Provincial Court on January 12, 2023.

Joseph Carl Read (38), from Grande Prairie, was arrested in West Kelowna, BC, and faces charges of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, theft, breach of release order , and many gun offenses.

Read was held for a Judicial Interim Hearing and remanded in custody to BC, and is scheduled to appear in court on January 9, 2023.

According to the RCMP, five of the 13 reported stolen vehicles were recovered in Alberta and BC, where one of the originally reported stolen vehicles was never recovered.

The Wood Buffalo RCMP General Investigation Section continues to investigate the situation and is actively seeking anyone with information.
