Harrison Ford has become one of the most famous actors in Hollywood. He is known for his roles in popular film franchises such as Star Wars and Indiana Jones.
The former truly set Ford on the path to stardom. However, despite his apparent dislike of the films, he returned to the franchise in 2015 for The Force Awakens.
Unfortunately, filming did not go well and Ford suffered a severe injury, which left him with a broken leg. A legal battle ensued, with the production company accused of breaching its health and safety duties.
Harrison Ford Doesn’t Seem to Care About ‘Star Wars’ At All
Despite the fact that the franchise made Harrison Ford the star, he is said to secretly hate the film. This is the theory of his attitude when asked about the character in interviews. Even his answers sometimes give the impression that he doesn’t like movies.
According to StarpulseFord wanted his character Han Solo to be killed off early in the series.
“I thought the character itself was a bit thin. I would have liked to see a complication for the character; the only complication I didn’t get was to die at the end of the third. I thought that would give the whole film the bottom, but I didn’t George can tell about it.”
Ford also said Entertainment Weekly that he doesn’t think Han Solo stands out as much as other roles he’s known.
“He has a good heart, but I think he’s definitely a less interesting character than Indiana Jones,” he said.
“The extent of his use in the story is never vast. He is the foil between the other more compelling elements of the film, between the sage old warrior and the young hero. .”
However, Ford returned to the film series for Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakensreprized his role as Han Solo.
Ford Denies Fan Theories That His Character Is A ‘Force Ghost’
In 2020, in an interview with USA Today to promote his film The Call of the WildFord seems annoyed again by the question related to Star Wars. Specifically, a popular fan theory that his character is now a ghost.
The theory came true when he made a cameo in the 2019 installment The Rise of Skywalker. Ford’s character was always killed in the 2015’s The Force Awakens.
According to Ford, he returned to the series because JJ Abrams forced him to do so, despite his character’s death. Ford also said that he believes it will be good for Kylo Ren’s growth.
He was then asked if his character was now a “Force ghost,” meaning his character was neither a Jedi nor Force-sensitive. Returning as such would put Han Solo in the same league as Yoda and Obi-Wan Kenobi.
“A Force ghost? I don’t know what a Force ghost is,” Ford said.
According to the outlet, Ford then lowered his voice to a whisper, not wanting to upset hardcore fans.
“Don’t tell anyone,” he added. “I’m not talking loud enough for your recorder. I have no f***ing idea what a Force ghost is. And I don’t care!”
Harrison Ford’s On-Set Injury And The Legal Battle That Followed
When filming Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens in June 2014, Ford was injured on set when the hydraulic door of the Millennium Falcon crushed the actor, leaving him with a broken left leg.
Ford spoke to talk show host Jonathan Ross about the incident. He began by explaining how advanced the hydraulics involved in the Millennium Falcon had become since 1977, when they were controlled with a hand-operated pulley.
“Now we have a lot of money and technology and so they built a beautiful hydraulic door that closed at the speed of light and somebody said, ‘Ooh, I wonder what this is?'” Ford said.
He continued, “And the door came down and hit me in my left hip because I turned to my right. And then it threw my left leg and dislocated my ankle and as it drove me to the floor, the my legs. on the ramp up to the Millennium Falcon and broke both bones in my left leg.”
The Foodles production company was fined £1.6 million ($2 million) by a UK court, which ruled they breached their health and safety duties. The production company previously pleaded guilty to two counts of breaching health and safety duties.
The production company released the following statement in response to the decision, “The safety of our cast and crew is always a top priority and we deeply regret this unfortunate accident. The Court recognized both additional safety protocols that immediately implemented, and it was a very safe production in all other respects.”
Ford recovered from his injuries in time to return to the set and finish filming.
