People have been putting a lot of demands on Doug Ford lately, begging the premier to leave the greenbelt alone, stop messing with municipal democracy, and do literally anything to fix Ontario’s crumbling health care system apart from use in privatization.
In return, he gave us a how-to video for decorating sugar cookies.
Yes, Ford answered the cries of his people again with a Martha Stewart-style video where he makes festive treats while sharing happy childhood memories, just like he did with his famous cherry cheesecake and pumpkin carving tutorials.
“Hey, how are you doing everyone, I want to wish you all a very Merry Christmas,” says Ford in the video, published at 6:03 am on Dec. 23. “I’ll tell you about our family. We love baking . I love baking cookies. As you can tell, I haven’t missed too many Christmas cookies.”
Ford describes the process of putting white icing on sugar cookies, waiting for it to dry, and then using additional colored icings to make holiday-specific snacks.
“I’m going to start with Frosty the Snowman. Give frosty two eyes. And now we’re going to use a little red icing. Put a big smile on Frosty,” he said as he came face to face with a snowman-shaped cookie.
“You know what we always do? I did it with my kids, we did it when we were kids — we always leave out the big cold glass of milk. And we leave out a whole bunch of cookies. But you know what else did we do? We left the carrots for the reindeer.”
The video ends with Ford eating a cookie, as he likes to do, and praising the food as “delicious.”

Although the concept of this Christmassy content could be useful, Ford is drawing a lot of backlash with his latest video.
The responses started pouring in just minutes after the premier’s sugar cookie tweet went live and, as of 1 pm, I have yet to find one of them with positive sentiments among the nearly 1,600 comments.
“It’s insulting. Health care workers are working non-stop, children are sick, there’s a severe shortage of beds for the homeless when hurricanes come, people are struggling to put food together on the table, etc. and tweet it?” reads one of the top replies.
“For a guy who says he ‘works 24/7’ you sure seem like you have a lot of free time for cookie baking, pumpkin carving and cheesecake pouring. It’s a wonder you have any time left to be the mayor of Toronto, ” joked anotherwhich refers to the new “strong mayor” power that Ford approved for John Tory to use as needed to benefit the interests of the province.
“I don’t want to see you fake bake,” still reading others. “I want to see you stop the plans to destroy the Greenbelt and Place in Ontario, do something about the homeless epidemic, and run a non-corrupt government, for starters. Then you can have a cookie.”
He only has 6 cookies and they are for his rich donors and himself not for the frontline heroes.

Comments like this can be seen throughout the responses to Ford, along with some less relevant tweets making fun of his weight and creating new nicknames like “Domestic Diva Doug.”
Many are expressing bewilderment at the fact that Ford or anyone on his team thought this video would be okay… or at least not terrible.
A recent poll conducted by Environics Research on behalf of the Ontario Federation of Labor (OFL) suggests that 80 per cent of Ontarians believe the current health care system is in a state of crisis.
Some 55 percent of respondents directly blame the crisis on the government of Doug Ford.
Ironically, Ford posted her cheerful holiday baking video just days after a coalition of unionized health care workers published an open letter “everything we want for Christmas” (and delivered a physical card ) to Ford about his controversial Bill 124.
“Bill 124 helped create a staffing and health care crisis. The courts have made it clear that this is a clear violation of workers’ constitutional rights. This government is not above the law. They need to accept the decision it,” Unifor Ontario Regional Director Naureen Rizvi said on Dec. 21, referring to the bill and Ford’s appeal of Ontario’s Superior Court ruling against its existence.
“We will continue to fight for health care workers and to protect everyone’s charter rights. Premier Ford has failed Ontarians, failed our health care system and failed our health care heroes. “
