Internally codenamed YY8, the new Maruti SUV EV concept will preview the brand’s first EV for the Indian market. The electric vehicle is expected to be launched in the first half of 2025. It will be based on Toyota’s 27PL platform, which is an affordable derivative of the 40PL platform. The new model is expected to have two battery packs of 48kWh with a range of nearly 400km and 59kWh with a range of 500km on a single charge. It will come in two-wheel drive and all-wheel drive models.

MG 4 EV India launched

MG Motor India will launch the India-spec Air 2-door electric car at the biennial event. Not only this urban EV, the company will also showcase the MG 4 EV at the Auto Expo 2023. This electric vehicle has received a 5-star safety rating in Euro NCAP crash tests. Based on SAIC’s Modular Scalable Platform (MSP), the new MG 4 EV is offered with 51kWh and 64kWh battery options that deliver 170bhp and 203bhp respectively. Both models have a single engine, RWD system and provide a maximum torque of 250Nm. According to the WLTP cycle, the 51kWh battery version gives a range of 350km and the 64kWh battery pack gives a range of 452km per charge.

MG Motor India is expected to launch the Air 2 door EV at the Auto event. According to Chinese spec Wuling Air EV, the new entry-level MG EV is expected to hit the production line in March 2023. Tendency to use batteries between 20kWh – 25kWh. It will produce power close to 40bhp and offer an electric range of around 150km.

Hyundai will also showcase the recently launched Ioniq 6 electric sedan at the auto event. It is based on the E-GMP skateboard architecture which also supports the Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6. Hyundai Ioniq 6 EV has two battery sizes to choose from: 53kWh and 77kWh. The rear-wheel drive version with a 53kWh battery provides a range of 429km, while the RWD with 77.4kwh offers a range of 614km. The AWD version gives a WLTP certified range of 583 km.
