The deadline for Customs Declaration Service Exporter has been extended | Daily News Byte

Following consultation with the border industry, exporters now have until 30 November 2023 to register with the Customs Declaration Service (CDS), 8 months later than the previous announcement.

After 30 November 2023, businesses will need to use CDS To make export declarations for goods they ship from the UK, as they already do for import declarations.

Sarah Hartley, Director of Border Change Delivery HMRC said:

We have moved the deadline to enable us to spend more time working with the industry to provide the necessary support and testing to help announcers move to the new system on critical functionality.

The extra time also gives businesses and stakeholders more time to prepare their customers and software products for the November deadline.

Mark Phippen from Descartes Patent Community System Provider, A HMRC Delivery partner for CDSsaid:

We believe the new timeline for CDS Exporting is a wise and practical decision, which allows HMRC And, in turn, developing systems and processes that work for all from day one, service providers, merchants and agents.

Amanda Francis, CEO, Association of International Courier and Express Services said:

AICES fully supports the extension of the Government’s migration schedule for exports CDS. It is a practical decision that reflects the need to ensure that the new system is properly tested and stable. We particularly welcome the decision to allow operational flexibility with the phased migration of exports main To CDS.

CDS Running since 2018 and already used to make import declarations when moving goods into the UK. This service will replace customs handling of import and export goods (main) service represents a significant upgrade by providing businesses with a more user-friendly, streamlined system that offers greater functionality.
