Jio to connect IOCL’s 7,200 retail outlets on SD-VAN solution

Reliance Jio, India’s leading telecom company, has been awarded an order by Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) to deploy and operate a Software Defined Wide Area Network (SD-VAN) for IOCL’s 7,200 retail outlets across the country.

Under the deal, Reliance Jio will manage IOCL’s retail automation and critical business processes such as payment processing, daily price updates, Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) software and network monitoring with enterprise-grade connectivity, quality of service (KOS) and 24×7 support in 28 states and eight union territories.

JioBusiness, the business arm of Reliance Jio Infocomm, will implement and operate this technology.

Prateek Pashine, Business Director, Reliance Jio said, “This will be one of the largest deployments of SD-VAN solutions in India in any industry as well as in the oil and gas industry across Asia. Currently, the implementation of the solution is at an advanced stage with 2,000+ retail outlets already on board with Jio’s SD-VAN setup.”

Schneider Electric to invest Rs 425 crore in Bengaluru for capacity expansion

Schneider Electrica global energy management company, has announced an investment of Rs 425 crore in Bengaluru to double its manufacturing capacity by setting up a new smart factory.

As part of this investment, Schneider Electric will consolidate six of the company’s 10 existing factories in Bengaluru. The company will expand its presence to one million square feet of industrial installation from the current 500,000 square feet.

The new smart factory will produce a wide range of products from single-phase UPS, three-phase UPS, power distribution units and low-voltage drives to digital energy products related to meters, off-the-shelf data centers, relays and renewable energy products. The company will create over 1,000 jobs, bringing the current number of employees in this new smart factory to over 3,000. The upcoming smart factory will also have 80% export capacity for customers in 30 countries worldwide.

“India is the third largest market for Schneider Electric and a huge base for export operations. As an industry leader, we feel now is the ideal time to step up our efforts and support state and national economic growth,” said Anil Chaudhry, Zone President India and CEO & MD Schneider Electric India.

Cognizant signs MoU with Garuda Aerospace

Technology services company Cognizant has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with drone startup Garuda Aerospace to power its drones with advanced digital capabilities and bring innovative solutions at scale to businesses aiming to achieve greater agility, productivity and overall results.

Under this partnership, Cognizant and Garuda Aerospace will bring together a suite of drone-based management and monitoring offerings for businesses across sectors. This will also provide an opportunity for Cognizant employees to work on various drone projects that have real-life use cases.

Order LTIMindtree bags from Yorkshire Water

A technology services company LTIMindtree has won an order from Yorkshire Water, the UK utility company, to modernize its clean water, wastewater and asset management operations.

Yorkshire Water is the ninth largest water company in the world and provides water and wastewater services to 5.2 million customers across Yorkshire.

As part of the engagement, LTIMindtree will help migrate Yorkshire Water’s core business systems to the SAP S/4HANA platform covering a wide range of areas such as work and asset management, complex planning, materials management, inventory management, health and safety.

According to the statement, by automating and streamlining processes, consolidating data and modernizing core systems using intelligent technologies, LTIMindtree will enable Yorkshire Water to increase operational efficiency, increase capabilities and improve customer experience.
