The comments by BJP spokesperson and former Union minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore came after Gandhi unfurled the tricolor at Lal Chowk, the historic clock tower commonly known as “Ghanta Ghar”,

He said in a speech, “Rahul Gandhi raised Tiranga in Laljok with pride. Prime Minister Modi and his government have created a situation in Kashmir that all Indians can be proud of. Run Tiranga. We want to thank Modi.”

BJP Jammu and Kashmir Chairman Ravinder Raina echoed similar sentiments, saying the flag he was waving was to blame Gandhi for masterminding the Modi Valley incident by repealing Article 370.

Congress has ruled the state for most of the past 70 years, but no leader has dared to wave the tricolor over Lal Chowk, Raina said. Modi unfurled the flag at the same location as BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi in 1990, at the height of the panic, he said.
