Arctech, the world’s leading tracking, racking, and BIPV provider, has signed an agreement to supply 2.8 GW of SkyLine II single-axis solar arrays for a 15GW total capacity solar project in Khavda, Gujarat, India. The project is expected to be connected to the grid in the third quarter of 2023, which is expected to be the largest solar installation in the country.


Since entering the Indian market in 2015, Arctech has provided 7GW of solar tracking, and racking solutions to the Indian region, marking the unquestionable leading company in the region. According to Wood Mackenzie Power & Renewables, Arctech holds the No. 1 spot for solar trackers in India by 2020 and a 45 percent market share by 2021.

SkyLine II is the flagship product with a special edge in the Indian market. The first 1P tracker (single image) designed with a pentagonal torque tube and a multi-point synchronous drive mechanism allows new possibilities to design plants using trackers with the same pile configuration, overcoming the uncertainties faced in the early stages of plant design. and construction.

The multi-point synchronous drive mechanism technology rigidifies the tracking system to the point of activating the 0deg wind stow mode, therefore reducing the difference in wind pressure and post load between the exterior and interior of the PV plant. By doing so, Skyline II enables new possibilities to design plants using monitors with the same pile configuration, overcoming uncertainties faced in the early stages of plant design and construction. There is no other way for traditional trackers to achieve the same results and solve the problem without dismantling and replacing all the trackers in the affected area.

PV production is growing rapidly in India. The country will remain the world’s largest PV market for years to come, and is eager to free itself from reliance on imported solar products. In August 2022, Arctech celebrated the opening of its first joint venture production base, Jash Energy in Mundra, India. The production base with an annual production capacity of 3 GW is the first production base dedicated to solar trackers in the country, allowing the production of all key components for solar tracker products.
