New Delhi: Tata Projects Limited on Thursday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research—Indian Institute of Petroleum (CSIR-IIP) to jointly work on clean energy solutions.

As part of this venture, clean energy solutions such as room temperature biodiesel produced by CSIR-IIP will be used at some of the Tata Projects’ ongoing sites.

Further, the partnership will actively explore the use of green diesel by-products from the existing DILSAAF (Drop-In Liquid Sustainable Aviation Fuel and Automotive Fuel) pilot plant at the CSIR-IIP campus in Dehradun and the proposed commercial scale demonstration unit at Tata Projects. ‘ fleet, according to the company’s statement.

Construction and infrastructure remains one of the largest industrial sectors in India. Thousands of light and heavy vehicles, including various types of construction equipment – both small and large – are used during the execution of the project.

Even if some of these vehicles and equipment switch from diesel to a cleaner energy source, the change will ensure lower emissions and a more sustainable future for the sector and the planet, the statement said.

“We are proud to partner with CSIR-Indian Petroleum Institute, in bringing their indigenous, sustainable, bio-based technologies to our construction sites to decarbonize the hard-to-reduce engineering and construction industry.” As part of the Tata Group’s commitment to the planet, our transition to cleaner alternative energy remains at our core, and we look to continued collaboration between academia and industry to find innovative pathways to that end,” said Vinayak Pai, Managing Director – Tata Projects. doo

“The MoU aligns well with our mandate to reduce India’s energy imports and improve the country’s self-reliance by converting waste and underutilized local renewable carbon sources,” said Anjan Rai, Director – CSIR-IIP.
