In the dispute between Anil Ambani’s Reliance Infrastructure and Metro Rail Corporation of Delhi, the Delhi High Court took cognizance of the Supreme Court’s order in favor of arbitration. At the request of Delhi Metro Rail’s lawyers, the matter was adjourned till January 4 as Attorney General of India R. Venkataramani was under bad weather conditions.

The case involves Reliance Infrastructure’s Delhi Airport Metro Express subsidiary, which received Rs 4,500 crore as arbitration from Delhi Metro Rail Corp in 2017. Her claims blaming structural defects in the Delhi Metro Rail viaduct for hampering the viability of operations on the airport line were accepted. .

With the metro rail firm repeatedly seeking stays in the high court, Reliance Infrastructure moved the Supreme Court, which then directed the high court to dispose of the case within three months. Delhi Metro informed the SC that it has requested the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs and the Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi for the modalities and time frame for settlement of Reliance Infra payments.

2,700 crore has been disbursed so far out of the 4,500 crore awarded to Reliance Infra.
