Police have named the 16-year-old boy who was stabbed to death in central London on Tuesday night as Jamali Samba Baibu.

The Metropolitan Police said the teenager died following an incident in Seward Street, Clerkenwell, just after 10.30pm. While another 16-year-old boy was injured.

Officers called to the scene administered first aid to the boys until paramedics from the London Air Ambulance arrived.

Jamali was pronounced dead at the scene, and the other boy was taken to an east London hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The crime scene remains under investigation as the homicide continues, and no arrests have been made, the Met said.

DCI Kate Kieran, who is leading the investigation, urged witnesses, including people who later tried to help the boys, to contact police.

Kiran said: “Jamli had her whole life ahead of her.

“Our thoughts are with his family as they come to terms with this terrible loss. We will do our best to support them.

“As we work to piece together what happened in Seward Street, I am appealing to any members of the public who were in the area, who saw or heard anything unusual or who have any information about what happened to come forward.

“Anyone who was driving nearby, especially along Seward Street or Central Street, please check any dashcam footage you may have captured of this incident or other significant activity.

“We know there were also members of the public who came to the aid of both boys after they were attacked.

“Some have not provided their details and we would like to speak to them.”

Anyone with information is urged to call 101 with reference 7708/21Dec or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
