National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula accompanied Chief Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi on Saturday, December 3 in Bungoma where they ganged up against the United Democratic Alliance(UDA).
While campaigning ahead of the election scheduled for Thursday, December 8, the two vowed not to allow the UDA to capture the Bungoma Senatorial seat.
Mudavadi and Wetangula have drummed up support for Ford Kenya candidate Wafula Wakoli who is set to face UDA candidate Mwambu Mabonga.
“We as constituent parties have agreed that we will not field any candidates in Garissa, Marakwet and Murang’a and we thought that in Bungoma, nobody else will field a candidate because since Wetangula is from Ford Kenya, we will return the seat in his party,” Mudavadi said.

The Chief Cabinet Secretary added that with Wetangula, their mission is to unite Westerners.
“Wetangula and I have decided to work together and unite Westerners so that we have one voice. We don’t want jokes this time.
This seat belongs to Ford Kenya and will remain so. When we start this push and pull and we start insulting each other, we will only limit the development of our country,” he added.
Wetangula acknowledged Mudavadi’s support for joining him in pushing for Ford’s party candidate to succeed him in the Senate.
“The Ford Kenya brigade will set up camp here in Bungoma to campaign for our own Wafula Wakoli to ensure that he emerges victorious,” he uttered.
The area has 9 constituencies with a total of 646,598 registered voters. In the August general election, the Ford Kenya boss Wetangula got 286,143 votes.
DAP-K boss, Wafula Wamunyinyi, wants to oust Wetang’ula in the turbulent Ford Kenya leadership battle ahead of the August 2022 polls. Wamunyinyi who lost his Kanduyi parliamentary seat is also looking to replace Wetangula .
Later, the seat became vacant after Wetangula resigned to contest the position of speaker of the National Assembly.
Former Bumula MP Mwambu Mabonga will fly the UDA flag while Wamunyinyi is the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya candidate.
