For several years, Westergard Motors has partnered with the Salvation Army Drumheller to collect toys for their Christmas hamper program.
The partnership continues for 2022 as the dealership once again hosts a toy collection for their annual toy drive. This year got off to a good start with a toy drive held by Drumheller Minor Hockey at the end of November, which brought toys collected to Westergard. According to Jerry Ferguson, Sales Associate for Westergard Motors this year’s collection was a bit slow. “We’ve been doing this for a few years now so kind of getting a gauge of what’s going on out there in the world and we found our numbers were just a little bit down this year.” Ferguson is encouraging anyone who can bring an unwrapped toy to Westergard Motors next week.
The diversity of what children ask for for Christmas is much different than in years past. “There are so many different technologies in the world of toys,” Ferguson shares. “We just hope people think a little bit about teenage kids. Sometimes, they’re the ones who don’t necessarily get the gift they want. One way to alleviate that is some gift cards. Then they can directly give it to the kids or the Salvation Army can go out and buy toys that fit their needs.”
Westergard Motors has always had success with the toy drive and they hope this year will be no different. “We definitely want to fill that trailer again to help the kids of Drumheller have a fun and happy Christmas,” Ferguson said. The toy drive continues till 9th December. Below are lists of gifts requested by the Salvation Army for their Christmas hamper program.
