It’s that time of the week again; Let’s take a look at the best smartphone offers in Germany, UK, US and India. While some of last week’s deals are still active so you can check them out, this week we’re focusing on new offers. Use the links below to go to the section for your country:
Germany
The Google Pixel 7 and 7 Pro are €55/50 off, and Amazon is taking old phones – so is Google, but Amazon will add €100 on top of the trade-in value (it calls this a “trade-in boost”). . ). These are the best Pixel flagships that Google has made till date; Check out our reviews for more details.
The Sony Xperia 10 IV packs a triple 12+8+8MP camera (including a telephoto lens), and has stellar battery life; Also it is one of the smaller Androids of 2022.
Next, the Edge 30 series. Starting with the Motorola Edge 30 Ultra, it’s expensive, but has Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, a 6.67” 144Hz FHD+ OLED display, and a 4,610mAh battery with 125W wired and 50W wireless charging. The camera is very special – it was the first to have a 200MP main sensor (1/1.22”, OIS), 50MP ultra-wide (114°) and 12MP telephoto (2x), plus a 60MP selfie camera.
The Motorola Edge 30 Pro is a big step up in price and apart from the camera, it doesn’t lose much. It uses the older but still faster Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip and has a very similar 6.7” 144Hz OLED display. As for the camera, the 50+50MP setup isn’t bad; It is not on the same level as Ultra. The 4,800mAh battery supports 68W wired and 15W wireless charging.
A little below is the Motorola Edge 30 Fusion – it’s €80 cheaper, though, with a Snapdragon 888+, a 13MP ultra-wide camera (same as the 50MP main) and a 32MP selfie cam (from 60MP), downgraded. It is not worth saving. The display is smaller, at 6.55” (still 144Hz FHD+ OLED), and the battery is also smaller (4,400mAh) and lacks wireless charging.
If you want a cheap Motorola, the Edge 30 Neo might be a better choice. At €300, it brings a 120Hz 6.28” FHD+ display, Snapdragon 695, 64+13MP cameras and a 4,020mAh battery with 68W wired and basic wireless charging.
Here’s an interesting pic, the Motorola Defy (2021). While not for everyone, this rugged IP68/MIL-SPEC-810H phone can make for a great working phone as it can withstand drops onto concrete from a height of 1.8m/6ft. It also has a long battery life, with an endurance rating of 129h, so you can even take it hiking.
UK
As in Germany, the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro are available with small discounts (£40 and £55 respectively), plus the option for trade-in credit. Google will take your old phone and give you a discount, but Amazon offers £100 on top of the price of the old phone (it calls this a “trade-in boost”).
Then nothing is phone (1). Carl Pei says that phone (2) is not on the horizon, so you don’t have to worry about a new version coming only after you buy phone (1). It is a stylish handset with many fans; Whether the new OnePlus becomes anything remains to be seen.
The Samsung Galaxy M23 is a cheap 5G phone, £200 cheaper. That’s not to say it’s bad – the 6.6” display has FHD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate, there’s a 50MP main camera and 8MP ultra-wide, plus a fairly large 5,000mAh battery (25W charging). Combined with the Snapdragon 750G chipset, it covers all the basics (including microSD slot and 3.5mm jack) in a normal budget.
Next, some pills. The Samsung Galaxy S7 FE is a 12.4” slate, and uses an LCD display instead of AMOLED like the similarly sized Tab S8+. This one is less powerful with a Snapdragon 778G chipset, but also costs less. And it has the usual productivity goodies like DeX, an included S Pen stylus, and an optional keyboard cover.
The Galaxy Tab S6 Lite (2022) is smaller, 10.4”, and uses a weaker Snapdragon 720G. However, it’s cheaper, and while you still get a stylus in the box, DeX is also supported.
Amazon has a “cheap tablet” marketplace, however, you have to install the Google Play Store yourself (if you want it, which you probably do). It is not difficult, but it is a hassle. And FireOS runs behind mainline Android. So, something like the Galaxy Tab A7 Lite can be a hassle-free alternative to Fire tablets.
USA
The Sony Xperia 1 IV is not a mainstream flagship, and its price is a bitter pill to swallow for many. But it’s a flagship with a microSD slot and a 3.5mm jack, not to mention a unique variable focal length telephoto lens (85-125mm). There was a 256GB version available, but that’s gone, and when you pay that much, you can get a 512GB version as well.
The foldable revolution seems to be bogged down in price issues, but at $850, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4 is almost exactly below the price of the Galaxy S22. It is quite compact when folded and offers more screen real estate when folded. The Flip has a faster Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset and a similarly sized battery, 3,700mAh.
Apple is no longer selling iPhone 13 Pro models, although you can still find new units from other retailers. Or you can save a few bucks and get a refurbished phone — Amazon is selling “like-new” iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max units and even offers a 1-year warranty for them.
India
The iQOO 9 Pro is an all-rounder flagship. This is the Legend Edition with BMW M trim, but the beauty is more than skin deep – in this case, it includes a 6.78” QHD+ 120Hz display (HDR10+, Dolby Vision), plus a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset and a 4,700mAh battery. 120W wired and 50W wireless charging. It might pass for a gaming phone, but it also has a fairly decent camera setup with a 50MP main (1/1.57”, OIS), 50MP ultra-wide (very wide FoV at 150°) and a 16MP telephoto camera. (2.5x magnification).
A more affordable phone that can still play games is the Xiaomi Redmi K50i. It has a 6.6” size with 144Hz LCD, FHD+ resolution, and it’s a nice panel too – with 10-bit color with Dolby Vision support. The Dimensity 8100 packs a powerful GPU for the price and you get a fast-to-recharge 5,080mAh battery (67W). The 64+8+2MP camera is nothing to write home about, but something had to give.
Techno released a special Mondrian-inspired version of the Camon 19 Pro, which changes colors when its back is lit by the sun. The phone itself has a large 6.8” 120Hz LCD (FHD+) and a large 5,000mAh battery (33W), plus 64MP main (1/1.7”, OIS) and 50MP telephoto (2x) cameras. However, the ultra wide lens is not.
Finally, a couple of Nokia phones on the cheap. The Nokia G21 comes with 2 years of OS updates (counting from global launch) and 36 months of security patches. Considering the price range, it is very good. The phone itself is fairly basic with a 6.5” HD+ 90Hz LCD, a Unisoc T606 chipset, a 50MP camera and a 5,050mAh battery with 18W charging.
In the sub-₹10,000 category is the Nokia C21 Plus. It’s an Android 11 Go Edition phone, but with an aluminum frame (plastic back), scratch-resistant glass and splash-proof design, it’s a pretty basic smartphone that offers a lot more functionality than something running KaiOS.
