Updates out of the Vita3K Discord show some interesting footage of Mortal Kombat, The Legend of Heroes: Trails Of Cold Steel, Freedom Wars, and Hatsune Miku: Project Diva X being tested on the PlayStation Vita emulator. and they are all doing well. .
The developer of the Vita3K emulator, Macdu, has been able to run a wide range of games at full speed on an Android phone with a Snapdragon processor.
A Reddit post showed the successful implementation, along with screenshots of the Discord and an outpouring of interest from fans.
Bring on the Beta
For those who don’t know, the Vita3K is an experimental PlayStation Vita emulator. It’s available for PC, Mac, and Linux, but the much-anticipated Android version has yet to receive a public release.
Beta is available soon, but there are no hard numbers yet.
The PSVita is a Sony handheld that hasn’t really reached its potential. Released in the West in early 2012, it didn’t find its footing in the super-competitive console market.
Outshone by his big brother, the PS4, and Nintendo’s 3DS, he did not really record the kind of following that they did during his sales.
Android apps seem like perfect competition for the neglected but beloved titles of the PS Vita. Given their optimization for a small screen, Vita games are begging to be played on smartphones.
Vita Lives Again
The Vita port of Mortal Kombat includes much of the PS3’s Komplete Edition, including new features such as a new fighting tower.
Trails Of Cold Steel stands directly against its PS4 version, even though their release dates are years apart.
Freedom Wars can only be seen on Vita, or through a Vita emulator, so it’s very easy to miss.
