British pop star pedophile Gary Glitter, who served a three-year sentence for child sex abuse in Vietnam, will be released from a UK prison next year after serving half his sentence for sexually abusing a little girl.
The 78-year-old was jailed for attempted rape, unlawful sexual intercourse with a girl under 13 and four counts of indecent assault in 2015.
He is now set to be released from prison “early next February,” according to the release The sun The newspaper, citing a UK Ministry of Justice source.
“Sex offenders released from prison are closely monitored by both the police and the probation service and may be recalled to prison if they breach their strict license conditions,” the report said.
Londoner Gary Glitter, real name Paul Gadd, rose to fame as a glam-pop-rock music star in the 70s and 80s. He has sold over 20 million records.
But the billionaire was convicted of possessing child pornography in 1999 and served four months in prison.
After his release, he went to Vietnam, where he was later convicted of sexually abusing two girls, aged 10 and 11, in the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau province, near Ho Chi Minh City.
As a known sex offender, Glitter was arrested at Tan Son Nhat Airport in HCMC in November 2005 as he tried to leave the country. He was sentenced to three years in prison after a one-day trial in which he pleaded not guilty.
In August 2008, Vietnam released Glitter after nearly three years in prison.
