Bhubaneswar: UK-based SRAM and MRAM Group on Saturday agreed to set up a semiconductor fabrication unit outside Bhubaneswar in a phased investment of Rs. 2 lakh crore was announced to be invested. This will be the world’s largest integrated semiconductor unit outside of China.

At the Make-in-Odisha 3.0 conclave, the company’s vice-chairman Guruji Kumaran Swamy said that the group will invest Rs. 30,000 crore and in the next phase the investment will be Rs. 2 lakh crore will be increased.

“The proposed unit will be set up in an area of ​​40 acres of land. We have approached the government for land near Bhubaneswar. Once established, it will provide direct employment to 5,000 skilled and semi-skilled people besides 3,000 indirect employment,” he said.

As per the proposed project, the group is planning to manufacture semiconductor chips in a fabrication unit.
