Bhubaneswar: UK-based SRAM and MRAM Group on Saturday agreed to set up a semiconductor fabrication unit outside Bhubaneswar in a phased investment of Rs. 2 lakh crore was announced to be invested. This will be the world’s largest integrated semiconductor unit outside of China.
At the Make-in-Odisha 3.0 conclave, the company’s vice-chairman Guruji Kumaran Swamy said that the group will invest Rs. 30,000 crore and in the next phase the investment will be Rs. 2 lakh crore will be increased.
“The proposed unit will be set up in an area of 40 acres of land. We have approached the government for land near Bhubaneswar. Once established, it will provide direct employment to 5,000 skilled and semi-skilled people besides 3,000 indirect employment,” he said.
As per the proposed project, the group is planning to manufacture semiconductor chips in a fabrication unit.
