For the second time in as many calendar years, and their third time in school history, the Ubly Bearcats traveled to Ford Field for the Division 8 state football championship.
While they fell to Ottawa Lake Whiteford, 26-20, the run was not made without the team’s fourth straight district and regional titles. The Bearcats defeated Saginaw Nouvel, Saginaw Michigan Lutheran Seminary, Fowler and Iron Mountain in their run at Ford Field. The Bearcats finished the regular season 9-0 and the year with a 13-1 record.
In volleyball, the Bearcats finished Greater Thumb East play 9-3 and won their district. Bearcats fall to Portland St. Patrick in regional final action in Kingston.
In cross country, both the Ubly boys and girls teams qualified for the state finals in Division 4. Utah Gusa finished 53rd in the state, with a time of 17:42.54. The boys team finished 22nd in the state with a score of 493. Maze Gusa finished 33rd in the state with a time of 20:55.46. The girls team finished 16th in the state with a score of 429.
The Bearcats are looking to build on their fall sports success for the winter and spring.
