Reflecting the economy’s growing reliance on technical and technical support, IT services spending in Australia is expected to grow by $40 billion in 2022, according to research firm Gartner – 6.1 per cent more than before – with business and technology consulting to increased by 8.3 percent to almost 8.5 billion dollars.
Overall, IT spending in Australia is expected to reach $111 billion, representing growth of 6.3 percent.

Recent high-profile data breaches involving Medibank and Optus – and with cyber threats intensifying – are prompting companies to reassess their security systems.
The Australian Cyber Security Center (ACSC) received more than 76,000 reports of cybercrime in 2020-21, an increase of almost 13 per cent on the previous year. This equated to one report every seven minutes. The center also reported an increase in the average cost per cybercrime report to more than $39,000 for small businesses and $88,000 for medium-sized businesses.
“Cyber security is the main issue on everyone’s mind,” Mpliokas says. “Where’s your data?” How is this ensured? Can you recover your data if you face a cyber incident?
