Ford has released the most powerful track-only third-gen Ford GT dubbed the Ford GT Mk IV. The model is the most extreme rendition of the iconic American supercar to date.
The Ford GT is iconic. Throughout its generational updates, the Ford GT has always served as the answer to European supercars. This is the most extreme version of the Ford GT and the last track-only model of the third-gen GT platform. You have to go out strong, and the Ford GT Mk IV is the nuclear warhead. The car is the result of a joint effort from Ford Performance and Multimatic, which will see only 67 cars produced.
“Multimatic’s brief was to create the most extreme final version of the Ford GT, and the Mk IV is the result,” – Larry Holt, executive vice president, Multimatic Special Vehicle Operations Group
Aside from the unique bodywork, the Ford GT Mk IV is powered by a bespoke twin-turbo EcoBoost engine that delivers power figures north of 590 kW! This daring motor is mated to a racing transmission all housed in a carbon fiber body that sees the addition of a longer wheelbase to aid drive and track handling. Speaking of bodies, the curvaceous figure of the Ford GT Mk IV works perfectly.
Adopting a wider frame and being lower-slung than its road-going counterpart, the Mk IV has some serious aero upgrades such as a larger front grille, massive hood vents, and trumpet-shaped side air intakes with a billboard-sized rear wing to cap off this piece of automotive art.
Basically it’s a third generation Ford GT in some serious GT race car drag. Paying tribute to the 1967 Ford GT Mk IV, only 67 units will be handcrafted and available to apply for an order from Multimatic.
“A unique larger displacement engine, proper racing gearbox, stretched wheelbase and truly radical body have resulted in an unprecedented level of performance.”
