The most searched car online in Canada in 2022 was the Ford F-150, according to AutoTrader.

In fact, this is the eighth year in a row that a Ford vehicle has topped Canadian vehicle searches.

The site says that with the rising cost of living and gas prices, more economical options have become popular.
“Affordability continues to be an important factor for Canadian car buyers, so we’re not surprised to see the Honda Civic — a car known for delivering performance at an accessible price point — that became more relevant (up four spots to No. 2) ,” AutoTrader Editor-in-Chief, Jodi Lai, said in a statement.
AutoTrader also reported that cars took up 80% of the top 10 searches in Ontario with drivers looking for more economical options and the Honda Civic rose to No. 1 spot from fifth last year.
Among AutoTrader’s 2023 trends are electric vehicles with searches up 89% year-over-year as gas prices rose in March; Shorter sales times for new vehicles due to microchip supply issues among those listed on the AutoTrader marketplace now taking an average of 49 days compared to 86 in 2021; Buying used cars with 36% of wannabe Canadian car owners wanting to switch from buying new to used, representing a 10% increase from last year; and a positive buying outlook with 24% of Canadians in October saying they intend to buy a vehicle in the next six months compared to 18% in March.
