Legendary composers and their music are also part of the group
Google already brought us the Blob Opera, a machine learning experiment, at the end of 2020. The fun thing is that you can easily create your songs with the help of ML, and we know is back in 2021 with revamped looks and holiday wear. The Blobs are back this year, albeit in a slightly new form, with the arrival of the musical arcade game Blob Beats, featuring music from composers such as Beethoven and Mozart.
Google Arts & Culture has set up Blobs with a retro-style arcade game in the vein of Guitar Hero. You start choosing a composition like Beethoven’s Für Elise, Mozart’s Turkish March, or Vivaldi’s Spring. Then, time your right clicks to catch the musical notes with the pixelated Blobs as they fall, in order to play the Blob Beat correctly. You can set high scores, beat them, and share the game with your friends and family for some great holiday competition.
If you’re familiar with the Japanese music game Beatmania, you should feel right at home with the new Blob Beats game. Google has four levels of difficulty and five songs to choose from. You can think of your time playing as a little education, as Google has thrown up interesting facts and pictures about Beethoven in the game – it can be found on the topic page Beethoven Everywhere .
If you’re not into arcade games, and are more into trivia, the search engine has teamed up with Deutsche Grammophon to create an ML tool called Beethoven Beats. All you have to do is type in your own music, and Google will find a Beethoven piano sonata that closely matches your sound. You can shred and find the legendary composer’s sonatas in one YouTube Music playlist recreated by veteran musician Daniel Barenboim.
