When the Ford Maverick debuted last year, the market praised its $20,000 price tag. With a respectable cost of kit and a commendable build quality, buyers are knocking each other over trying to get one.
Although Ford is still working to fill a massive backlog of orders, changes are already underway in the second year of production. For the 2023 model year Ford Maverick, buyers will see a new appearance package.
The Ford Maverick black appearance package
The all-new Black Appearance Package is available on the mid-range XLT and top-of-the-line Lariat trim levels. To start, the package includes unique five-spoke 18-inch machined-face Ebony aluminum wheels. Continuing the exterior enhancements are a black front grille, door handles, mirrors, front and rear logos, and tinted headlights and taillights.
Interior changes for the Black Appearance Package Ford Mavericks include “Black Onyx/Medium Dark” seats, changed from the standard “Navy Pier/Medium Slate” color. The seats have not been upgraded in material and are still basic fabrics. However, the package also infuses the cabin with various darkened interior accents.
Can you get the Black Appearance Package on any Para Maverick?
Sadly, the Black Appearance Package is not available on the base XL trim. Also, it is not available with the FX4 Off-Road Package, Tremor Off-Road Package, or Tremor Off-Road Appearance Package.
While this is a marginal issue, if the Black Appearance Package is selected, the wheels are slightly thinner than those featured on normal 17-inch wheels. The Black Appearance Package includes 225/60 tires, while the 17-inch wheels come with 225/65 tires.
How much is the Black Appearance Package?
The package retails for $1,645. That may seem like a lot of money for parts that can be purchased from a local auto parts dealer. Still, it looks snazzy, especially in “Area 51” gray.
Adding the package brings the price of the Ford Maverick XLT trim to $28,240. For the Ford Maverick Lariat with the Black Appearance Package, pricing starts at $31,740. Prices depend on the base hybrid 2.5-liter four-cylinder with front-wheel drive.
What’s new for the 2023 Ford Maverick?
In addition to this new package, the XL-trimmed Mavericks also get standard cruise control for 2023, Ford Authority reports. Additionally, the 2.0-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder can now be optioned without a price increase. The turbocharged engine is good for 250 hp and 277 lb-ft of torque. Opting for the boosted powertrain provides 59 hp more, and it’s now standard with all-wheel drive.
As mentioned before, prices for Ford’s smallest pickup truck have increased in its second year of production. Due to its popularity, Ford Authority said the 2023 Maverick was removed from Ford Motor Company’s rate lock incentive plan. As the Detroit-based automotive giant continues to fulfill increased desire, Ford has pushed back the date on new compact pickup builds. However, there have been no delays, so production at the Hermosillo Assembly plant in Mexico on November 14th.
