Tata Power-backed wholly-owned TP Saurya (TPSL) has received a ‘Letter of Award’ from the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) for setting up a 600 MW hybrid (wind and solar) power project in Karnataka. Subsidiaries obtain LoA through competitive bidding based on tariffs followed by e-Reverse bidding. Tata Power on Wednesday said the project will be handed over within 24 months from the date of execution of the PPA.
Dr. Praveer Sinha, CEO & MD of Tata Power, said “We are excited with the win of the 600MW hybrid project for SECI as it reaffirms Tata Power’s commitment to create a sustainable ecosystem for transitioning to a green future. Change in India as they can generate around-the-clock power with high levels of reliability to help achieve the country’s decarbonisation goals.”
With the latest win, Tata’s total renewable energy generation capacity reaches 5,524 MW, with 3,634 MW installed and 1,890 MW under various phases of operation.
On the BSE, Tata Power shares closed at ₹220.85 against earlier closures. The market value of the company is approx ₹70,569.07 billion.
The company will announce its financial performance for the quarter ending June 30, 2022 (Q1FY22) on July 26.
Last week, Tata Power signed a memorandum of understanding with the Tamil Nadu government to invest approx ₹3,000 crore for setting up a Greenfield 4GW Solar Cell and 4GW Solar Module plant in Tirunelveli of Tamil Nadu. The memorandum outlines the commitments of both parties to promote the transition to clean energy and employment in State. The investment in the factory will continue for 16 months and will create employment opportunities for more than 2,000 people directly or indirectly, most of whom will be female employees.
Last month, Tata Power commissioned India’s largest floating solar power project at Kayamkulam, Kerala in a 350-acre, backwaters area with an installed capacity of 101.6 megawatts. With the assignment of this project, the company’s total solar project output has reached reaching 9.7 GWp.
Tata Power is one of India’s largest integrated power companies and together with its subsidiaries and jointly controlled entities, has an installed and managed capacity of 13,749 MW.
