New Delhi: Tata Power on Friday admitted that it had been hit by a cyber attack on its IT infrastructure. However, the energy company said that all its critical operating systems are working normally. “The company has taken steps to pull and restore the system. All critical operating systems are functional,” Tata Power said in a BSE filing. However, as a measure of abundance of caution, “restricted access and preventive checks have been put in place for employees and customers who are facing doors and touch points”, it added.

“The company will update on this matter further,” Tata Power added. Tata Power Ltd said some of its IT systems were affected by cyber attacks.

Last month, Union Power Minister RK Singh said that India’s electricity grid will soon be more future-proof and protected from cyber-attacks by providing regular inspections and timely action under the Electricity Regulatory Act.
At the beginning of this year, Mr. Singh informed that there was a cyber attack on the power grid of nation. “This is an investigation into the attacks in December, January and February, they were unsuccessful. But we know,” he said.
