Tata Motors is currently the leading passenger EV manufacturer in the country that retails several battery powered options including the Nexon EV which is the best selling electric vehicle in India. The company has a history of taking aim at competitor brands through social media posts for various reasons. This time, it has targeted Mahindra more than selling electric cars in the country.
Tata Motors took a dig at the Mahindra XUV400 in a social media post shared via Tata’s Tata Passenger Electric Mobility mobile. The company has humorously compared the Tata Nexon EV to the Mahindra XUV400, showing that it has managed to sell over 35,000 while Mahindra’s EV sales stand at ’00’ at the moment.
While the Nexon EV is currently on sale in the Indian market in large numbers, the XUV 400 EV will go on sale in the country in January 2023. It will emerge as a direct competitor to the Nexon EV. Earlier introduced in 2022, the upcoming XUV 400 will be introduced in India with a full claimed range of over 400 km.
The new XUV 400 EV has a 39.4 kWh battery pack that will be powered by an electric motor that delivers 150 PS of power and 310 Nm of peak torque. This will propel the EV across the 0-100km/h dash in 8.3 seconds. On the other hand, the higher-spec Nexon EV Max comes with a 143 PS motor that allows the Nexon EV Max to zip through the 0-100 km/h sprint in just 9 seconds. The 40.5 kWh battery pack in the Tata Nexon EV Max provides a claimed range of 437 km, while the Mahindra XUV400 gives an ARAI claimed figure of 456 km.
