T4 Group has announced a new flagship partnership with NTT Ltd to provide their NZ Data Center infrastructure.
It said the new partnership would positively impact the company’s current data centers in Whangarei and Auckland, as well as its third under construction in Southland.
T4 Group says all of its data centers are co-location facilities, providing customers with rack space to store and run their own hardware and servers in a safe and secure environment. The T4 team also ensures consistent supervision and review of working hours.
NTT Ltd provides solutions for many of the world’s largest companies. They develop edge-to-cloud networking ecosystems, helping to simplify the complexity of workloads in multi-cloud environments and innovate at the edge of IT environments.
T4 Group Director David Simpson says the collaboration is a fantastic opportunity and both companies share the same goals and aspirations.
“Partnering with NTT is an exciting step in the right direction for the business, as both companies share similar views and goals when it comes to the environment and ensuring sustainability is at the forefront of our business,” he says.
T4 says its philosophy on sustainability is vital to the company’s values. Typically, large amounts of energy are required to cool data center racks. However, they say the design of Southland’s newest Tier 4 center will maximize cool natural airflow to significantly reduce reliance on powered cooling systems, while warm air will be extracted and used by a large local business.
Combined with the use of hydropower, it will also be the country’s first carbon-free data center.
“T4 Group does not greenwash its work; currently most data centers in New Zealand rely on coal as a secondary energy source and some companies are using different compensation methods,” says Simpson
“We can take advantage of the region’s unique strengths, such as access to hydropower, to develop a truly green and sustainable community asset.”
Simon Gillespie, CEO, NTT New Zealand agrees, saying that aligning values enables successful outcomes for clients.
“We are very aligned with T4 Group on its focus on sustainability and are committed to partnering together to serve our collective customers and communities on the ground.”
T4 Group Chief Technology Officer Jason Porter also says the collaboration with NTT was a major milestone.
“The fact that NTT has a similar business ethos to us made this a no-brainer.”
“We’re really excited to be partnering with NTT by providing their data center infrastructure at the highest level of capability and security in New Zealand – no one else can match what we offer.”
T4 Group says it is always looking for ways to reduce waste and increase efficiency.
“We are committed to reducing the carbon footprint of our business, and part of that requires constantly reviewing our operations and implementing improvements.”
“It’s also increasingly important to our customers as we help improve their carbon footprint,” says Porter.
The group also currently has 500 rack spaces available in its Auckland Tier 3 certified Data Centre.
