On his YouTube channel, RacerX predicts how powerful the power is 2024 Ford Mustang Delivered by GT. While the upcoming Mustang Dark Horse has been widely speculated, rumors remain as to how powerful the GT trim of Ford’s iconic will be. Sports Car deliver.
Check out the video to see what information RacerX uses to figure out which direction Ford will take for the next generation V8 pony car.
A V8 Engine Holdout
For decades, V8 engines have been placed in some of the most iconic performance cars from nearly every manufacturer at one point or another. However, as more stringent EPA regulations and movements toward electrified vehicles become more common, the number of available V8 engines in new vehicles is becoming more common.
Today, Dodge offers several V8 engine options in their Charger and Challenger muscle cars as well as the Chrysler 300. However, Stellantis is moving away from these powertrains, as evidenced by upcoming vehicles like the Dodge Hornet. By the time 2024 rolls around, the upcoming 2024 Ford Mustang may be one of the few affordable V8 engine options left due to the C8 Corvette’s exorbitant cost.
RacerX says the 2024 Ford Mustang GT might be the best option for an affordable V8 car if you want to stick with a V8 engine for 2024 and beyond. Not sure how long the V8 will last Chevrolet Camaro sports cars will be available and cars like the Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing cost more.
Speculation puts the high-end Ford Mustang Dark Horse around 500 horsepower, a strong spec for Ford. However, since the GT will likely end up in more garages, the GT’s power will gain the attention of a larger number of buyers.
Looking to 2024
Some feel that the upcoming Mustang GT could be the most powerful GT ever even though a leaked document puts the number at 450 horsepower, which is the same figure that the current GT Mustang puts out.
At the very least, the upcoming GT will include an improvement with a larger digital display, infotainment, and of course the entire redesign. In the leaked document, RacerX cannot clearly read the document and cannot verify its accuracy or the specific information in it, making the leak potentially pointless.
RacerX feels it makes sense for Ford to raise the horsepower in the 2024 GT but of course, it’s not entirely certain. EPA regulations pushing toward more fuel-efficient sports cars require frequent tweaks to the powertrain of cars like the Mustang that can change the potential for performance over time.
Further developments will confirm how much power the upcoming Mustang will bring to the table but at the very least, it will have a V8 engine that is more than many of its competitors can claim.
