The central government has implemented various projects and initiatives to implement smart meters throughout the country. Government initiatives to measure

In October 2022, energy and infrastructure leaders including L&T, Adani Group and GMR Group placed bids for the largest installation of smart meters in Uttar Pradesh. IntelliSmart, a joint venture between EESL and the National Infrastructure and Investment Fund, has also expressed interest. The 230 billion rupees bid will install 28 million smart meters across the state.
