Prince George Ford made a large holiday donation to a local youth center.
Carrier Sekani Family Services (CSFS), which operates the Sk’ai Zeh Yah Youth Center, received a $15,000 donation from Ford that will help local at-risk youth and young adults.
“Many of the young people who access the center are of out-of-care age, and they have nowhere to go. There’s a lot of judgment on these kids, but really – they’re survivors,” said Amy Merritt, Director of Youth Services.
“Our goal is to change the perception of these children and the good that they are all capable of doing.”
The center welcomes people in need between 18 and 29 years of age.
After a tour of the facility, Prince George Ford General Manager Chris Wall said, “I had no idea how big the impact would be. [Sk’ai Zeh Yah] doing, how big it is, all the services provided. It puts a smile on your face.”
CSFS says the money will go toward warm winter clothing, and improving site amenities.
