Muscle car drivers aren’t too happy at the prospect of snow days, but Ben Hardy believes the Mach 1 can still beat icy roads.
When you look at the Ford Mustang Mach 1, you might think of speeding around on balmy summer nights. Not really a Sports Car which comes to mind for handling snow or other cold conditions on cold winter days. However, YouTuber Ben Hardy wanted to test this newer Mustang in this type of climate. He gives this beast a full breakdown Ford and how it handles snow, ice, and cold temperatures.
The Ford Mustang Mach 1 Inside And Out
Ben begins the review by providing a full breakdown of the exterior of the Ford Mustang Mach 1. He pops the hood and reveals the massive 5.0-liter V8 running through a Tremec 6-speed manual transmission. That gives this new Mustang a whopping 470 horsepower.
Moving on from the front of the Mustang, Ben talks about the Brembo brakes, five-spoke wheels, matte finish mirrors, nicely machined exhaust tip, roomy trunk, and the classy finishing touches like the red pinstripes and the cool Mach 1 logo. Here he also points out that he drives surprisingly well on summer tires.
Inside, the Mustang Mach 1 has a mix of leather and cloth door trims and a functionally designed dash. Ben also points out that the front and back seats are cloth, which is a bit disappointing for a car that will set you back nearly $60,000.
The last thing Ben did before starting the engine was to give a breakdown of the infotainment system and the different drive modes the Mustang offers.
Dancing On Ice In Ford Mustang Mach 1
It’s time for Ben to put the Mustang Mach 1 to the winter test. He fired up the V8 and there were raspy growls from the quad exhausts. He got the car down to snow/wet mode and first crossed a snowy parking lot. In some of the icy areas, the vehicle was quite slippery. It navigated a large snowy patch with relative ease though.
Ben then hits the open road and enjoys the Mach 1’s “super nochy” Tremec transmission. He even calls this car “perfect” while driving in 30-degree weather. That’s really awesome.
All in all, Ben is an expert on Mustangs, and he believes the Mach 1 is better than a fully loaded-GT.
