Ryanair currently operates flights to the Portuguese city of Porto from four United Kingdom airports: Birmingham Airport (BHX), Edinburgh Airport (EDI), London Stansted Airport (STN), and Manchester Airport (MAN). This summer, Bristol Airport (BRS) and Leeds Bradford Airport (LBA) will join that list, giving Ryanair customers who live in or near Bristol or Leeds the ability to fly from airports closer to home. Flights from Bristol will operate three times a week, while flights from Leeds will operate twice a week. One-way tickets start at £29.99 ($36.18) and are available to book on the Ryanair website.

It’s also worth noting that Ryanair will launch flights this spring on a new route from Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LPL) to Porto, giving its customers in the United Kingdom more flexibility to fly out of the airport.

In addition to the two new airports in the United Kingdom, Ryanair will also launch flights from Porto to nine other cities in France, Ireland, Italy, Poland, Spain, Sweden and the Netherlands.

Ryanair customers from the United Kingdom to Faro currently have a choice of 12 airports, including London Luton Airport (LTN), London Stansted Airport (STN), and Manchester Airport (MAN). Next summer, Exeter Airport (EXT) will join that list, making it easier for travelers from the southwest of the United Kingdom to travel to Portugal. Flights on the new route will fly twice a week. As with Porto, one-way tickets start at £29.99 ($36.18) and are available to book on the Ryanair website.

Ryanair will also launch flights from Faro to five other cities in the United Kingdom this spring and four more in Denmark, France, Germany and Italy this summer.

Owned by the Lufthansa Group, Ryanair is Europe’s largest airline, serving more than 230 airports in more than 40 countries with around 2,500 flights per day.

Ryanair’s announcement of new flights from the United Kingdom to Porto and Faro comes at a time when demand for travel has finally returned to normal as people become increasingly keen to travel. The new routes give UK travelers more flexibility to fly from airports closer to home and are expected to boost tourism to Portugal as a result. Only time will tell if the new flights are as successful as Ryanair hopes they will be, but for now, other airlines would do well to observe Ryanair’s new routes closely; If they succeed, such airlines may soon find themselves encouraged to follow suit.
