One of the best RPGs of the 2000s has been remastered for your mobile.
In recent years, Square Enix has re-released titles from the SaGa franchise on Android. The new title will be Romancing SaGa – Minstrel Song. The original 2005 release was not available in PAL regions (most of Europe and Africa, parts of Asia, South America, and Oceania), so this Android release is the first time to to find the game in these places.
The Android release is a remastered version of the original game. Not only is there a full HD graphics overhaul, but new items and boss styles have been added along with some lifelike features.
Eight starters remain the same, but the new characters that can be recorded include the sorceress Aldora, Schiele, Marine, Monica, and Flammar. If you’re disappointed that you don’t have them, you can add them to your party when you meet them. Aldora also adds new events to the game.
No new bosses have been added, but there have been increased powers that give a greater challenge to the battle. With new music, it’s the perfect way to test your new stuff.
As with most remasters of classic games, there are plenty of good-life scenes. A key addition is a mini-map to help new and old players explore the world of Mardias. There’s also a fast-forward mode, so veterans of the first game can fast-forward to areas they’ve played and died. New levels allow players to try new ways to play, and there is an option to save your progress when you start a new game.

Overall, Romancing SaGa – Minstrel Song looks like a cheap but decent remaster of the original game (it’s the remaster of Romancing SaGa for SNES!). It is available to download now for $24.99 from the Play Store.
