An official statement said that this award for the 184.27 hectare park was given to RIL in Chennai. This will be developed in three phases with an estimated developer investment of Rs 783 crore. Phase 1 development is targeted within 2 years (by 2025) leading to commercial operations. The total estimated value of the project is 1424 million dinars, while the total concession period is 45 years.
As part of Prime Minister Gati Shakti’s National Master Plan (NMP), the Ministry of Transport is developing 35 MMLP, of which 15 are prioritized over the next three years.
These MMLPs lay the foundation for the development of large-scale public-private partnership (PPP) infrastructure projects for which both the central and state governments have come together. A State Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) has been formed for the same between National Highways Logistics Management Limited, Rail Vikas Nigam Limited, Chennai Port Authority and Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation. The SPV will provide NH connectivity with 4 lanes for a length of 5.4 kilometers (km) at an estimated cost of Rs 104 crores and a new railway line up to MMLP of 10.5 km, costing Rs 217 crores.
