According to a media release from the Ontario government, Premier Doug Ford will be in Ingersoll on Monday morning to make the announcement along with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Vic Fedeli, minister of economic development, job creation and trade. .
Commentary begins at 12:15 pm and will be live-streamed on Ford’s YouTube channel. The exact location of the event was not immediately available.
No other details about the announcement have been shared so far. However, earlier this year, both the premier and PM expressed their support for General Motor’s production of electric vans at its CAMI assembly plant in Ingersoll. Set to become the first full-scale electric vehicle production facility in Canada, the federal and provincial governments have invested $259 million each to re-vamp the Ingersoll location. A portion of the funds were also put into General Motor’s Oshawa facility.
It marks Trudeau’s second stop in southwestern Ontario in less than a week. Last Thursday, he visited Western University’s Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry to announce the Canada Dental Benefit.
