After topping the Steam charts as recently as October, developer Poncle has released Vampire Survivors on top. iOS a Android for free. It was opened on the Game prizesbe warned, once this hell-bent roguelike shamelessly sinks its teeth into you, it’s hard to stop playing.
At just $5, Vampire Survivors is a Steam’s success is surprising for London indie Poncle, but gamers loved it with its cool action loop perfect for long (sorry) gaming sessions. The release of IOS and Android is completely free but still offers a full version, especially the option to play the picture or the landscape; I would recommend the latter.
The game sees players control one of many heroes as they battle endless waves of demons, monsters, and other evils. Combat is simple with your unique attack style and the player only has to worry about movement.
So what’s the fuss? Well, the beauty of the game comes in roguelike elements, with players presented with a choice of game-changing elements every few minutes.
Each run sees players start with whatever their weapon type is (each character can unlock a unique combat mode) and power-ups gained through new playthroughs . But things quickly escalate as the screen fills up and knives fly everywhere. Basically, it’s a great way to spend 10 minutes by car. There is also a free web browser, but for mobile users, the app is the way to go.
Unlike mobile games, Vampire Survivors has no microtransactions. There is an option to view an ad above the death to revive it, but it is not possible to connect.
Poncle is releasing a DLC expansion called Legacy Of Moonspell for the Steam version on December 15, and hopefully it will come to the mobile app as well. Now, I highly recommend you give Vampire Survivors a go on your phone.
