Bhubaneswar: Odisha Renewable Energy Policy-2022 was unveiled today, expected to increase renewable energy capacity by 10,000 MW in the state. Pratap Keshari Deb, Minister, Power, Industries and MSME unveiled the policy here on Day 1 of the 3rd edition of Make in Odisha Conclave.
The Department of Energy organized talks with businesses on the topic “Towards Green Energy” . Minister Sri Deb said in his keynote speech that OREP-2022 also provides many incentives for Develop the renewable energy project of the state.
Nikunja B. Dhal, Principal Secretary, Power welcomed the distinguished speakers and delegates of the meeting, which was followed by an insightful discussion led by CMD (NTPC), CMD (SJVNL), CEO & MD (TATA Power) and MD (Hindalco) and. Former Director General of the International Solar Alliance Upendra Tripathy.
The Department has executed 3 Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with leading CPSUs to invest Rs. 51,000 Crores in the state. The first was executed between GRIDCO and NTPC Green Energy for the development of large-scale solar power, floating solar power and pumped storage projects in the state.
In the first phase, 1,000 megawatt and 2,000 megawatt hydropower projects will be developed with Invest in the amount of Rs. 17,000 million kip.
The second is implemented between GRIDCO and SJVN Ltd. For the development of 2000 MW and 2000 MW hydropower projects and floating solar projects with a cumulative investment of Rs. 30,000 billion.
A third is also being implemented with NLC for the development of large area solar energy projects, floating solar energy, Pumped Storage Hydro and Green Hydrogen projects of the state.
Initially, 600 MW of solar capacity and 5 million tonnes of green hydrogen production were planned with an investment of Rs. 4,000 billion. These MoUs are expected to create 1200 direct and 2600 indirect jobs in the state.
