A 2014 Ford Classic Diesel owner who complained that his car was not giving the advertised mileage has received Rs 3 lakh as compensation from a Kerala consumer court. Investigations revealed that the real mileage of a car was 40% lower than the advertised rate of 32 km/l, advertised by the business.
The Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum, Thrissur, headed by President CT Sabu and members Sreeja S and Ram Mohan R, found that the advertised mileage was more than 32 km/l while the results of tests conducted of the expert commissioner is 19.6km/l. .

While announcing the verdict, the judge said, “The justifications and arguments advanced by the opposing parties to understand the significant difference between the stated and actual mileage of the vehicle in question are beyond the pale for any normal person. that precaution.”
The court further noted that by claiming the wrong mileage for the vehicle, the vendor, Kairali Ford, and the manufacturer, Ford India Pvt. Ltd., has been involved in unfair business practices.
The car maker, Ford India Pvt. ltd., considered the vehicle to have a mileage of more than 32 kilometers per liter of diesel. The complainant said he bought the car after being lured by this promise. He got only 16 km/l of mileage, though. He also expressed his displeasure with the car’s broken tire after 10,000 kilometers.

As a result, it awarded the complainant an amount of Rs 1,50,000 as compensation for the damage done to her financially and 1,50,000 as compensation for the pain and suffering she suffered. He was also ordered to get an additional Rs 10,000 to cover legal fees.
