![NIST Berhampur’s energy conference focuses on innovative technologies, research

Berhampur: The national conference on ‘Energy and Social Sustainability’ focused on the identification of innovative technologies, research and design advances and solutions towards the path of renewable and sustainable energy, including integration of utility systems.
National Institute of Science & Technology (NIST) Autonomous, Berhampur organized its first conference in association with India Power Conference on December 10. The conference was sponsored by Odisha Power Generation Corporation and Tata Power Southern Odisha Distribution Limited.
Besides, Bishnupada Sethi, Chairman OHPC, other dignitaries like Managing Director OPTCL Biswaranjan Mishra, Former Director General CPRI Bangalore Dr Ashok Kumar Tripathy, Chairman Energy Council of India Dr Pravakar Swain, Chairman IEC Dr Priyabrata Patnaik and Vice Chairman IEC Dr Pravat Kumar Parhi. also attended the meeting.
The inaugural session was followed by an expert panel discussion with keynote speakers including Dr. Kanungo Barada Mohanty from NIT Rourkela, Dr. Chandrasekhar Narayan Bhende, Prof. IIT Bhubaneswar, Dr. Prakash Kumar Hota, Prof. VSSUT Burla, Dr. Balaraman Kannan, former director of the National Institute. Wind Energy and Mr. Birinchi Bora Deputy Director (Technical) National Solar Energy Institute.
A number of technical expert meetings and panel discussions on renewable energy and sustainability research were held. Fifty students participated in a presentation on the topic of energy sustainability.
The event was coordinated by Dr Sachidananda Prasad, Dr Sandipan Malik, Dr Akankshya Patnaik, Dr Ashwini Kumar Nayak, Dr Aswini Kumar Khunita, Dr Preeti Ranjan Sahu, Arabinda Panda, Nrusingha Prasad Tripathy and Nilesh Dalai.
