Will you be one of the lucky thousands to join its Preview Party?
Netflix has had to make some big calls after massive subscriber losses earlier this year: less ad support has been released now and curbs on sharing accounts starting next year. Those moves weren’t popular with the public, but the company returned some growth for Q3. But for all the trees that end in 2022, there are signs that there may be some carrots along the way. We are learning some details about some of those benefits.
Like most Hollywood studios, Netflix has a screening program to test future releases. This program, called Preview Club, currently has 2,000 participating authors. But according to the Wall Street Journal reports, Netflix may be looking to expand the group in hopes of driving more user feedback to influence and plan future programs. Although it is not clear how many more users will be able to join the Preview Club, sources say “tens of thousands of users” worldwide will start early next year.
The existence of the Preview Club was confirmed by Variety in May, but the program has actually been active for a year. The Journal reports that the end of the scene, “Don’t Look Up,” was received from the subscriber’s perspective with the first group of viewers who reported seeing the image as “very important. ” The producers were presented with this idea – under special responsibility from Netflix – and decided to add new humor in the film.
The company is spending $17 billion next year on production and acquisitions, down from $18 billion this year. That money will go to video games to collect Netflix’s new cloud game and its big movies and serials. Getting more and more hits is very important in making more money.
Side note: Netflix also collects feedback on previously released titles from its employees and sends them to creators.
