Detectives have launched a homicide investigation after a man was killed by broken glass during a fight on Richmond Bridge.
Police were called to the scene in south-west London at around 4am on Saturday and found 31-year-old Reece Newcombe with serious injuries.
A GoFundMe to raise £1,000 for his daughter had reached £31,000 by Sunday evening.
He said: “Reece was a loving, fun-loving person who was loved by all. He didn’t have a bad bone in his body. He made an impact on everyone he met.”
Officers administered CPR before paramedics took over and rushed the man to hospital, where he died later that morning, the Metropolitan Police said.
He is believed to have been beaten with a piece of broken glass. Postmortem examination will be conducted in due course.
No arrests have been made.
DCI Catherine Goodwin is leading the investigation. She said: “We believe a number of people witnessed the incident and some onlookers may have recorded footage on their mobile phones.
“Those who are yet to speak to us are requested to come forward immediately. My team is working to provide answers to Reese’s family and the public who may have valuable information that will assist our investigation.”
A pioneer for policing in Richmond. Supt Lis Chappell said: “My thoughts are with Reece and his family. We will do all we can to support our colleagues in specialist crime as they work to establish what happened here.
“A scene will be in place and my officers will be stationed at the scene and in the area to speak to local people about any concerns they may have, or information they may wish to share.”
