In India, auto-rickshaw is the most common mode of transport and most of us rely on it to travel to our offices, schools and colleges. Transit mode is popular for short distance travel as it is cheap and easily accessible. However, seeing an auto-rickshaw abroad is a very rare thing. Recently, a video went viral on social media, showing an auto-rickshaw driver giving a ride to a student in his three-wheeler in York City, England.
The clip was shared by an auto-rickshaw driver who, according to his Instagram bio, “landed in York – all the way from Bombay!” The caption of the video reads, “Good day out in a rickshaw today… Great to meet @kane___25603 & take him on a ride from #York for some #mumbaivibes”.

In the video, the driver can be seen driving through the city in his auto rickshaw with an Indian song playing inside. The clip was filmed by the York University student, who hails from Mumbai, according to his Instagram bio. As the video progresses, one can see various buildings and other people walking on the sidewalk.
The video, shared on November 27, has received over 440 likes and many comments, with users expressing their joy and surprise. The student who filmed the video also commented on the video
Saying, “Thanks a lot for the ride bro.”
“Next level,” one user wrote with two fire emojis. Another commented, “Ahh I’ll sit back and listen to Amit Kumar’s “Main Jees Din Bhula Doon”. A therapeutic drive and experience I can imagine.” A third joked, “Bro, how much will it cost to get to Bandra station?”
This is not the first time that an auto-driver has demonstrated his driving skills on the roads of England. In fact, his Instagram page is full of pictures and videos capturing his incredible journey. In November, he shared another video in which he was seen driving his auto on the streets of York City. He captioned the video, “Enjoying this autumn evening in York, UK… feeling the #Bombay vibes.”
A few days ago, he shared a picture of his auto-rickshaw parked on a street in York city, with York Minster in the background.
He captioned it as, “Almost freezing today, but #York is even more beautiful in winter, with its magnificent architecture. #yorkminster looks stunning day and night.”
