From the chess board to the court, Northern California native Jordan Ford has had many skills over the years.
Until the age of eight, Ford focused on competitive chess. He won two California State titles before switching his focus to basketball. Ford played for Folsom High School, scoring 34 points iIplayoff game against Sacramento High School in 2016 and was twice named the Sacramento Bee’s Player of the Year.
Ford ultimately chose to continue playing his college ball at Saint Mary’s, turning down Cal Berkeley, Oregon and Gonzaga. In his sophomore year, coming off a summer hospitalization from an epiglottis diagnosis, Ford averaged 11.1 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game, while shooting 50.8 percent from the field and 44.3 percent from behind. of the arch.
In his senior season opener, he scored 26 points and hit 4-of-8 3-pointers as Saint Mary’s defeated Wisconsin 65–63 in overtime. During the same season in March 2020, Ford scored a career-high 42 points in an 89–82 double overtime win over Pepperdine in the quarterfinals of the WCC Tournament. Finishing his career at Saint Mary’s Ford averaged 21.9 points per game as the team finished the season 26–8.
In March 2021, Ford signed with Greek club Peristeri, where he played for the remainder of the 2020–21 season before spending the 2021–22 season with the Agua Caliente Clippers, the Los Angeles Clippers’ G League affiliate.
He joined the Stockton Kings roster this season and is currently averaging 15.7 points per game.
Most recently, Ford scored 24 points six rebounds, two steals and one assist in 29 minutes in Monday’s 102-95 matchup against Ontario.
