(NASDAQ: MRVL ), a leader in semiconductor solutions for data infrastructure, today announced an expansion of its collaboration with Nokia that further enhances Nokia’s 5G chipset portfolio “Powered by ReefShark.” The companies have worked closely together on the new OCTEON 10 data processing unit (DPU), which expands the ReefShark family with best-in-class 5G transport built on a cutting-edge 5nm processor and hardware acceleration technology. The jointly developed solution provides mobile network operators with the ability to rapidly develop their networks and deliver innovative new 5G services of high performance and capacity with ultra-low latency and energy efficiency.
To handle the dramatic increase in data traffic and performance of the new architecture based on 5G services, mobile network operators increasingly require high-performance, highly efficient processors to meet customer expectations and scale quickly, while keeping costs and power consumption under control. By incorporating Marvell’s leading DPU technology, including the industry-first 5nm Arm® Neoverse N2 multi-core solution, Nokia has transformed its portfolio of “Powered by ReefShark” chipsets into the most advanced 5G radio access and transport processing platform.
