Police have launched a double homicide investigation after the bodies of a man and a woman in their 70s were found at a property in Sheffield.
A 51-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with the death at an address in Terry Road, Dor.
Officers were called to the property at 10.15am on Sunday, when both bodies were found.
A spokesman for South Yorkshire Police said both victims were “seriously injured” and were pronounced dead at the scene.
He added: “A 51-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder. He is currently in police custody.
“Specially trained officers are supporting the families of the deceased”
Ch Supt Shelley Hemsley said: “This incident will no doubt cause a lot of concern in the community and our thoughts are with the families of the couple who tragically lost their lives this morning.
“We have a number of officers at the scene and we expect them to be there for some time today as we carry out a full investigation.
“Anyone who has any information – no matter how small it may seem – should contact us as it could assist our enquiries.”
