Mahindra has discontinued its full-size flagship SUV, the Alturas G4, as confirmed by our dealer sources. The SUV maker has removed the SUV from its official website and also stopped bookings. For now, the XUV700 midsize SUV will be the carmaker’s flagship until its future and more expensive models arrive.
The Mahindra Alturas G4 is a full-size SUV that locks horns with its established rivals like the Toyota Fortuner and MG Gloster. It is one of the most affordable models in its segment, but sadly, it is not as popular as its rivals. Before the discontinuation of the SUV, Mahindra had released a fully loaded rear-wheel-drive trim priced at Rs 30.68 lakh.
It is a fairly loaded SUV, with top feature highlights being an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, ventilated front seats, powered driver’s seat, HID projector headlamps, a single -pane sunroof, 360-degree camera, and power tailgate. Safety is taken care of by nine airbags and electronic stability control.
The SUV is powered by a 181PS 2.2-liter diesel engine, mated to a Mercedes-Benz-sourced seven-speed automatic transmission. It was offered with rear-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive options, although only the former was offered before it was discontinued.
There is no real replacement planned for the Mahindra Alturas G4 as of now. Most dealers have flushed out their inventory, though if you happen to come across one, now might be a good time because you can haggle for a tempting deal.
